2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 debuts; 23 hp more power than the previous model

Mercedes-Benz is continuing its revealing spree of new models and this time, it is the 2020 AMG GLC 43. The car takes the middle slot in the GLC-Class lineup. It debuts in the standard form and Coupe as well. As for the improvements over the previous models, the new coaster gets outfit tweaks along with a few functional improvements.

Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Tobias Moers said, “The new GLC 43 4MATIC SUV and Coupé in their latest guises also feature the AMG-specific radiator grille, identifying them straight away as fully-fledged members of our diverse and highly successful SUV family.” He further added that “This mid-size performance SUV combines new, expressive design features with enhanced performance, the innovative MBUX infotainment system, and absolute viability in everyday use. And, of course, its exceptional agility and sporty driving dynamics mean that we are able to meet our brand promise of ‘Driving Performance’ in this segment, too.”

The first noticeable revision is the tweak anterior, which is dominated by the Panamericana Grille and new LED headlights. The rear also receives minor alterations with fresh taillights and revised lower part. The placement and design of the quad exhaust outlets add a demarcating line between the coaster and the GLC 63.

Ingressing inside, the first highlighting change is obviously a new power steering wheel. As stated, the infotainment requirements are taken care of by the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system. It is a smart infotainment layout backed by AI abilities and learns user’s habits to offers better experience. Then there is a large 10.25-inch touchscreen panel hanging on the dash, followed by a 12.3-inch instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. 

Under the hood, the GLC 43 arms a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which now offers 385 hp of maximum power output. The number is 23 units more than what the previous model gets. Also, Mercedes-AMG claims that the street runner can touch the 60 mph from nil in just 4.7 seconds.
