BMW M8 enters production, to headline LA Auto show

The odds are not satisfying enough. So, BMW came up with some exciting ‘evens’ this year, the M2 and now the M8 has gone into production. The strangely occupying feeling turns up when BMW decided to headline this year’s LA Auto show with this M8.

Remember last year BMW teased us with an M8 under northern lights? That tease has taken up a beautifully sculpted shape now. Built over the 8 Series sedan, M8 is a performance-oriented version of its opulent sibling.

Slammed with a 4.4-Liter Twin-Turbo V8, the M8 produces 600hp of power and 553 pound-feet of torque, which slingshots it to 60mph in just 3.1 seconds. Not bewildering enough? Well, they do have a much hotter version to this Gran Coupe which produces 614hp of power and bumps up the torque by 0% but slingshots this ‘Lamb of God’ to 60mph in 3.0 seconds.

The eight-speed automatic transmission and All-Wheel-Drive are standard in both these models. No manual belongs to this generation and this might make this drive a bit dry for enthusiasts.

The M8 sedans also gain adaptive dampers and improved brakes. Larger, carbon-ceramic discs are an additional option. The body looks a bit different, too, including a wider rear track and a carbon-fiber roof.

While sales begin in January, the M8 Gran Coupe First Edition arrives in a limited set of 400 units in April 2020, and 50 of those units are coming to the United States. The version gets a palette like Aurora Diamond Green Metallic exterior paint from the BMW Individual palette and bronze accents. This sedan also rides on a different design for the wheels. The price for this limited-run model isn't yet available.

Prices for the M8 Gran Coupe in the United States start at $130,995 (after $995 for destination). The Competition version increases the figure to $143,995. The cost of the options isn't available yet but expect them closer to launch.
