Elon Musk booms into the pickup truck segment with his Tesla CyberTruck

Pickup trucks are like Arnold Schrznagger and Sylvester Stallone of the automobile industry and stealing all that muscle and brawn from that segment is never a good idea. Elon Musk did that and this might impress a few but this won’t impress the truck aficionados.

Tesla CyberTruck front

This might be a concept but you got to have some muscular fender and big headlamps in a pickup truck. It is like Axl Rose replacing Brian Johnson in AC/DC and trust us that is one bad idea. Anyway, what looks like the future of pickup trucks, CyberTruck is actually feature-ladened. Starting with the material from which this truck is made, a dent-resistant, scratch-resistant and even a blow from the ‘sledgehammer’ resistant skin is what protects this truck from the outer world. (Or outer space?)

What really catches our attention is the spec-sheet of this truck. 0-60 mph in 2.9 Seconds. Find me a truck with better numbers than this. This truck will be offered in three different trims and the most fuel-efficient one will be able to cover 500 miles on a single charge and the performance-oriented variants will be able to cover 250 miles.

Caressing the passengers inside this truck is the adaptive air suspension which will ensure the comfort and ‘corners like on a rail’ tagline by Tesla. To compliment that setup, CyberTruck is slammed with 16 inches of ground clearance, not best-in-class but good enough for some serious off-roading.

Starting at a price tag of  $39,900, this truck is equipped with some serious truck-like capabilities. With 14,000 pound towing capacity, I don’t think Ford is going to retain ‘America’s most loved pickup’ tag for long. Craziest addition is the tri-motor setup truck which is priced at a whopping price tag of $69,900.

According to Tesla, deliveries for the same model will start from 2021 and the accessories are not yet revealed but will be named ‘camp mode’ most probably.

As the advent of EVs in the market and the dilemma of creating something that will not harm the environment is taking place, we believe this a respectable initiative by Musk. We hope to see more of these products in the near future.
