McLaren 765LT debuts, lifetime run of 765 units only
McLaren brought something new to the Longtail range on March 3, that is McLaren 765LT, the limited edition beast which would make you run for your bank check.
The McLaren 765LT has undergone a rigorous weight-shaving treatment over the standard coupe version. To put things in perspective, it is 80 kilograms lighter, thanks to its carbon fiber additions on the build and the lighter lithium-ion battery. Also, the glass is thinner now and the seats are lighter too.
Mechanically, the limited-edition McLaren 765LT is powered by 4.0-liter, V8, a turbocharged engine that can churn out a maximum power of 765 PS at 7,600 RPM, along with a peak torque of 800 Nm, which comes at just 5,500 RPM. The produced power is sent down to the wheel via a 7-speed Sequential shift gearbox, which is very different from the one seen in the 720S.
Thanks to the weight-saving and the instant throttle response, the limited-edition model now has better in-gear acceleration and performance numbers. It can hit the 0-100 kmph mark in just 2.8 seconds before reaching the 200 kmph mark in 7.2 seconds. The engine maxes out at 330 kmph of top speed.
Aesthetically, the McLaren 765LT is a treat to watch. It gets a quad-exhaust outlet with a very grunty note, though a lot of markets get two extra to keep the sound to a minimum. There is also a generous amount of carbon fiber in a lot of places, like the license plate holder, front and rear bumpers, rear wing, rear diffuser, etc. Other body panels are done in aluminum, though carbon fiber treatment is offered as an option.
The front end gets 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear gets bigger 20-inch units. These are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires for excellent traction and grip. Besides just that, there are many color options that the buyers can choose from, many new over the 720S.
The McLaren 765LT is limited to just 765 units globally. So get a hold on one before its gone.
