The Honda Pilot is a three-row crossover which received updates for the model year 2019 a couple of months ago. Subtle changes were made to the exterior along with some mechanical updates. Interior received a bunch of new connectivity features. The 8-seater crossover packs in Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety tech and driver assistance features as standard across line-up. Powered by a V6 engine, Honda’s 8-seater SUV is available in four variants including LX, EX, EX-L, Touring and the top-spec Elite grade. Accoladed for its top-notch quality and modish appeal, the 2019 Honda Pilot price in the US starts at $31,450, the EX trim is retailed at $34,330, EX-L at $37,760, Touring at $42,520 and the fully-packed top-spec Elite grade is priced at $ 48,020 (all prices are MSRP).
Currently, in its third generation, the 2019 Honda Pilot improves over its predecessor in visual terms with new styling elements adding aggression to it. The headlights at the front have been redesigned which now comes with standard LED low-beam set-up. Another prominent update made to the face is the bold chrome bar on the radiator grille which meets seamlessly with the headlamps, appearing a single unit. Also, the bumper in front gets larger openings for the fog lamps. Round the back, it features restyled tail-lamps with LED backup lights. The three-row crossover is available in eight paint options such as steel sapphire metallic, obsidian blue pearl, black forest pearl, crystal black pearl, modern steel metallic, lunar silver metallic, white diamond pearl and deep scarlet pearl.
The insides of the three-row, eight-passenger crossover are styled modishly and come layered with a host of connectivity bits such as a new infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that has been simplified for easy operation, especially in terms of menial tasks. That said, the touch-screen controls for basic operation have been dropped for a much simpler menu. Additionally, the new touchscreen unit is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The controls for air conditioning and heating are placed right below the infotainment unit. Aside from aforementioned features, it also comes with hands-free access power tailgate, heated and ventilated seating, an advanced navigation system, etc. Other bits such as leather seats, captain seats for the second row, three-zone climate control, Blu-Ray DVD rear entertainment system, onboard Wi-Fi, paddle shifters and much more are reserved for the higher variants in the carline.
Coming to the mechanicals, the Honda Pilot gets a 3.5-litre, V6 engine good for a maximum power of 280 HP with mileage ranging between 19 to 27 mpg, depending on the variant one picks. Transmission choices on the carline include a six-speed automatic transmission and a nine-speed automatic gearbox, available with both 2WD and AWD options.
As for safety, the Honda Pilot equips the Honda Sensing comprising safety tech such as lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning with an automatic emergency as standard. The three-row SUV also packs a multi-angle rearview camera and automatic high beams, which are available across the line-up.
