Subaru Forester

This year Subaru has improved its SUV-Forester over the outgoing model. It now comes with a number of mechanical enhancements, interior modifications, and safety upgrades that are now available from the base variants. Unlike the 2018 model that was launched with two engine options, 2.0-liter DOHC Direct Injection Turbocharged (DIT), which generates 250 hp at 5,600 rpm, and 258 lb-ft at 2,000-4,800 rpm, and a 2.5-liter DOHC which produces 170 hp at 5,800 rpm | 174 lb-ft at 4,100 rpm. This year’s Forester provides a single engine option, that is SUBARU BOXER® 2.5-liter DOHC direct-injection engine which comes with Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS) and produces 182 hp at 5,800 rpm | 176 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm. Along with these changes, the new Forester attains enhanced fuel mileage, increased cargo capacity, and minor design variations like rounded shape grills, large fog lights, and headlights. That makes the front fascia design more aggressive. Also, there are remarkable detailed changes in the rear design of the car, as the taillights are now bigger and pointed. Other than these changes, some minor improvements are made to the side look of the car like,  cargo section side-window is now sharper, and door sills are fitted with silver plastic cladding. 

Inside the car, Subaru has made some significant changes and now you’ll feel more comfortable with the newly updated layouts. Some of the added and upgraded features are, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, also you can choose to opt for a 6.5-inch infotainment screen or 8.0-inch screen that’s followed by large air vents on either side. In addition to the interiors, steering wheel and audio buttons are now slightly restyled.

Forester 2019 price range is between $24,295-$34,295, means the base variant is little costly and top variant is now considerably cheaper when compared with the 2018 Forester variants. 

This car is a perfect companion for off-roading adventures and comes in 5 variants Forester, Forester Premium, Forester Sport, Forester Limited, and Forester Touring. With, first three variants get LED headlights and the rest top two variants come with LED-SRH with HBA. However, panoramic moonroof, that can filter 100% UV lights is available only in top four variants, leaving behind the first variant. 

In terms of safety of passengers, Subaru has kept most of the active and passive essential safety features in all the variants of Forester. Yet from the base variant, you’ll get hands-on keyless entry system with answer-back electronic chirp, pre-collision braking system, pre-collision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, DRL, rollover sensors, rear vision camera, vehicle dynamics control (VDC) with a traction control system (TCS) and trailer sway assist (TSA).

To conclude Forester in few lines, I’ll say that 5th generation Forester can be the best Crossover SUV as it gives you the best build-quality interiors, comfortable seats, spacious cargo, refined powertrains that don’t affect the mileage, and standard safety features at very affordable prices. But, on the other side, this car could be built better in terms of engine turbulence, noise, and performance, as it too lacks the capability to punch the vehicle immediately.
