Ford is gearing up to launch a revamped Mustang by 2022

According to a recent job posting on LinkedIn by the Ford, the company is recently hiring for a wind and road noise team engineer. The job listing goes on to state that the selected individual will specifically help in building the next-generation Mustang as it read "final sign off on the Ford 2023 Mustang S650 vehicle program before it goes to the customers." And, it is the folks from Mustang6G who found out the breaking news.

The job description which goes on to mention the S650 Mustang will be making its official debut in 2022, also points towards a 2023 model. Originally due in 2021, the delay in the release of next-gen Mustang is likely due to Ford's efforts to base the redesigned Mustang on the CD6 platform.

The CD6 platform made its debut in the 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator twins. Previously, back in 2018, the automaker announced that its future lineup would migrate to five highly modular platforms.

The new timeframe which depicts the car to be a 2023 model also resembles that there might be more variants planned for the current generation of Mustang S550. However, the seventh-generation of Mustang is also suspected to be a hybrid model as Ford announced a Mustang hybrid with a V8-like performance with a 2020 release date.

While the current-gen Mustang faced a fall in its demand by 4.4 percent in 2019 as compared to the previous year, moving to a modular platform might be the perfect move to give a boost to the sales. However, the redesigned Mustang might be more significant than its current generation model, which measures 188.3 inches long with a 107.1-inch wheelbase with an increased weight.

Lastly, as per a report published by Automotive News in August 2018, the next Mustang was initially supposed to come out in the other half of 2020, but Ford CEO Jim Hackett allegedly pushed back the model's launch by a year.
